Maddi, also known as She Who Explores, is a professional photographer and visual storyteller based on Tasmania’s East Coast. With a deep love for the ocean and a life shaped under the waves, Maddi’s work captures the raw beauty beneath the surface.

Maddi’s creative journey began young, evolving into a full-time pursuit that has since led her to work with leading ocean companies and brands globally.

A qualified freediver, SCUBA diver and surf instructor… as well as all-round ocean adventurer, her images are more than visuals—they’re immersive experiences, inviting viewers into the world she calls home. Unlike other professional photographers, Maddi doesn’t have a gallery, print store or showroom - the creation of prints for Raised By Salt are her way of displaying her artworks, together with purpose and functionality.

After starting her van trip around Australia and falling in love with Far North Queensland, Kate found new inspiration in the rainforest, waterfalls and reef. Her work blends the calm beauty of these environments with her relaxed, intuitive painting style, resulting in pieces that feel both grounding and joyfully expressive.

Beyond her studio practice, Kate runs her own Paint and Sip classes, and creates custom commissions using both traditional techniques and digital illustration tools like Procreate. Whether she’s painting a Cairns landscape, her new favourite native animal or custom piece, Kate’s aim is always the same: to create art that feels meaningful and connected.

Kate also holds a deep connection to the ocean, shaped by years of spearfishing, diving and exploring below the surface. The reef is one of her greatest sources of inspiration. An endless goal to try and capture its unique beauty, reflecting her love for the sea and the peace she finds beneath the surface.

KateMade Art is growing into a multi-faceted creative brand, with new offerings, digital downloads, and an expanding online presence—including her Instagram, @katemade_art_.Through her art, Kate hopes to inspire others to slow down, notice the beauty around them, and explore their own creativity.

Kate’s designs can be seen in our collaboration of Mermaid Mafia stickers and merch. Her mermaid diver was drawn to pay tribute to all those mermaid girlies out there.
